RIKON has completed the assembly and commissioning of two new RPS-1100 model portal cranes at the Port of Riga, marking another delivery in a ongoing series of shipments to Turkey. This follow-up project succeeds the recent completion of the Isdemir Port project for the OYAK Group. The newly prepared high-performance units are scheduled to be transported fully assembled via a heavy-lift vessel to a specialized terminal.
The destination specialized terminal acts as a strategic regional hub, accommodating vessels with a deadweight of up to 110,000 DWT and handling up to 14.5m tons of cargo annually. The two RPS-1100 cranes each weigh 430 tons and feature a distinctive lattice-style portal design rooted in classic engineering traditions. This particular architectural structure is favored by port operators for extreme durability, with the units engineered to withstand up to 40 years of intensive operation.
A key operational advantage of the delivery relies on RIKON’s logistical method, which allows the equipment to be shipped from Riga to Turkey in a fully operational state. Despite experiencing one of the coldest winters Latvia has seen in two decades, RIKON specialists conducted the assembly operations at the Port of Riga without interruption.
