Riga-based manufacturer RIKON has successfully deployed its proprietary RIKON Remote Operation System (RROS) at the Valencia-Font de Sant Lluís intermodal terminal, operated by ADIF, Spain’s national railway infrastructure authority. The system has been installed on two 40-tonne RMG container cranes.
Under the new setup, each crane is connected to a dedicated remote workstation, allowing operators full control from an ergonomic console in a comfortable office environment. The RROS technology delivers precision control for multi-tonne machinery operated remotely with maximum accuracy, while improving safety by protecting personnel from adverse weather and on-site occupational hazards.
The deployment in Valencia is part of RIKON’s broader automation strategy. The company is currently supplying three fully automated 40-tonne A-RMG cranes for another ADIF facility, the Madrid-Vicálvaro terminal.
