PSW Power & Automation has secured a turnkey contract with Fjuel Tromsø to install a new shore power facility at Kai 8, Prostneset, in central Tromsø. The project aims to provide emission-free electricity to cruise ships and large vessels, including the Norwegian Coast Guard’s fleet, while they are at berth.
The delivery features a 5 MVA system operating at 11 kV and 6.6 kV, alongside low-voltage connection points for additional vessel types. PSW’s optimized design reduces the facility’s overall footprint, freeing up over 100 m² of space for Fjuel’s further charging infrastructure development. This initiative is a critical component of Tromsø’s strategy to address the 38% of municipal climate emissions currently attributed to shipping.
