The Port of Savannah reported June volumes increased 18% compared to the same month in 2025, capping off fiscal year 2026 on a strong note according to the Georgia Ports Authority. Cargo owners shipped 5.67m TEUs across the Port of Savannah docks during the fiscal year, coming just shy of the 5.7m TEUs reached in the previous year.
Infrastructure developments bolstered regional logistics capabilities, including the Appalachian Regional Port handling a record 49,319 intermodal containers and the May opening of the $134m Gainesville Inland Port. Additionally, the Georgia Ports Authority moved 541,405 containers by rail at Mason Mega Rail, marking the third straight year exceeding 0.5m units.
The Port of Savannah maintains 40 ship calls a week, 42 doublestack trains per week, and 14,000 truck gate moves daily, supported by a self-financed master plan of nearly $5bn designed to add five big ship container berths over the next decade.
