The Port of Corpus Christi has awarded $200k in grants to the Corpus Christi Independent School District (CCISD) and Aransas Pass High School (APHS) to bolster regional STEM education and workforce development. This initiative aims to prepare students for high-demand careers in the energy, maritime, and industrial sectors through specialized technical training and hands-on learning environments.
CCISD will utilize $100k to launch its Coastal Bend STEM Initiative, establishing a series of innovation labs across various grade levels focused on engineering, robotics, and computer-aided design. Concurrently, APHS received a $100k grant to partner with Del Mar College in creating a Process Technology Dual-Enrollment Program, providing students with a direct pipeline to college credits and industry-aligned technical skills.
These awards are part of the Port’s ongoing commitment to fostering regional economic growth by bridging the gap between classroom education and technical career pathways. The Education Grant Program specifically targets projects that equip students with the skills necessary to meet the future workforce needs of the Coastal Bend.
