ORLEN has opened a new Marine Transshipment Terminal on the Martwa Wisła River in Gdańsk, a key infrastructure project built largely by Polish companies. Designed to handle over 1.8m tonnes of cargo annually, the facility enables direct transshipment between the refinery and tankers, eliminating the need for intermediate transport. The terminal features a 380-metre quay with two berths, capable of accommodating vessels up to 10,000 dwt and facilitating the export of base oils and marine gas oil, alongside imports of vital biofuel components like FAME and ethanol.
Simultaneously, the Group announced strong financial results for Q2 2026, generating PLN 76.5bn in revenue, PLN 13.9bn in lifo-based ebitda, and a net profit of PLN 7.7bn. International markets served as a major performance driver, with foreign service stations contributing a record 43% of the segment’s profits. This operational success supported a record capital expenditure of PLN 14.7bn in the first half of 2026, aimed at strengthening energy security and the group’s transition strategy.
The new Gdańsk terminal is expected to handle approximately 100 vessels and 0.5m tonnes of product in its first year, significantly reducing logistics costs and reliance on road and rail transport.
