Associated British Ports (ABP) has signed a new long-term lease and commercial agreement with Valero at the Port of Cardiff. The deal secures the ongoing operation of Valero’s 12-acre liquid fuels terminal at Roath Dock, which stands as the largest facility of its kind at the port. This strategic partnership underpins the continuous storage and supply of liquid fuels across South Wales and the Southwest of England.
The agreement safeguards skilled local jobs on-site and stabilizes the regional fuel supply chain serving households, businesses, commercial fleets, airports, and the M4 and M5 corridors. Furthermore, the contract enhances logistics efficiency and environmental impact by directly linking Valero’s Pembroke refinery with Cardiff, which successfully removes thousands of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) from the public road network.
