Contecon Manzanillo, International Container Terminal Services, Inc.’s (ICTSI) Mexican business, has welcomed the inaugural call of MSC’s Sierra service with the arrival of the vessel MSC Domitille. The new route expands direct maritime connectivity between Northeast Asia and Mexico through the Port of Manzanillo, serving as MSC’s second dedicated Far East-Mexico service.
The Sierra service follows a port rotation connecting Qingdao, Tianjin, Busan, Manzanillo, Lázaro Cárdenas, and returning to Qingdao. The launch coincides with Contecon Manzanillo’s ongoing fourth phase expansion project, an investment focused on increasing terminal capacity to support growing cargo volumes.
According to ASIPONA, the Port of Manzanillo handled more than 1.7m TEUs between January and May 2026.
