MacGregor to Equip Six LNG-Powered Containerships

Share:

MacGregor has secured a contract to provide a comprehensive suite of cargo handling solutions for six 1,700 TEU dual-fuel LNG-powered containerships. The vessels, which are being built at Cochin Shipyard Limited in India for CMA CGM, are scheduled for delivery between 2029 and 2031.

The supply scope includes the design and fabrication of hatch covers, along with key components for cell guides, deck stanchions, and fixed container fittings. This project marks a significant development in sustainable shipbuilding in the region, as it represents the first time a major international carrier has commissioned LNG-powered vessels from an Indian shipyard.

This order was booked into the company’s Q2 2026 intake. The initiative aligns with the shipowner’s goal of reaching net zero carbon by 2050 and reinforces India’s growing role as a strategic hub for global maritime trade and sustainable infrastructure.
