MacGregor has secured a contract to supply a 165 t active heave compensated crane for a newbuild Ulstein SX121 vessel ordered by Jan De Nul and under construction at China Merchants Heavy Industry. Part of a 1+1 vessel programme, the order is booked into MacGregor’s second quarter 2026 order intake, with delivery scheduled for February 2028.
The choice of the crane was driven by MacGregor’s proven track record, while its lightweight design provides a higher lifting capacity without the added weight of a larger unit. Additionally, MacGregor’s local presence and production capabilities in China support the shipyard with direct design, installation, and commissioning assistance to maintain schedule discipline.
