LSCT has signed a 90m euro contract for four ship-to-shore cranes and eighteen yard cranes ahead of construction on the new Ravano Terminal. Awarded to a leading Chinese manufacturer, the supply agreement sets delivery within 24 to 28 months as part of a broader EUR 350m modernization plan to upgrade infrastructure and boost operational capacity.
The four new ship-to-shore cranes accommodate vessels up to 24,000 TEU, enabling the simultaneous handling of three ultra-large container vessels. The equipment incorporates advanced technologies such as optical character recognition, truck position tracking, vessel profile scanning, and cabinless remote-controlled yard operations. All machinery runs on electricity, introducing the terminal’s first electric RTGs to support decarbonization and energy efficiency goals.
Double C-RMG cranes will be installed at a new five-track rail yard to strengthen integration with intermodal operations. Through this configuration, LSCT aims to increase its intermodal traffic share from thirty-three to fifty percent, reinforcing the terminal’s role as a strategic Mediterranean gateway.
