Konecranes Expands Strategic Partnership with Gateway Distriparks via New Rail-Mounted Gantry Order

Share:

Konecranes has secured a significant follow-up order from Gateway Distriparks Limited (GDL), a leading Indian multimodal logistics operator, for the delivery of two Rail-Mounted Gantry (RMG) cranes. This deal strengthens a long-standing partnership and follows a substantial investment in Rubber-Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes made by GDL in 2024. The new equipment is destined for the Garhi Harsaru Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Gurugram, a critical hub serving the National Capital Region of India.

The investment is a key component of GDL’s broader strategy to modernize its terminal infrastructure and enhance handling capacity in response to growing rail freight volumes. These RMG cranes are engineered to provide high-speed, precision stacking and loading, ensuring that the terminal can manage increased container throughput with improved reliability. By integrating these advanced units, GDL aims to streamline its intermodal operations and reduce turnaround times for its rail-linked customers.

Technologically, the cranes are equipped with Konecranes’ latest automation-ready features and energy-efficient drive systems. The RMGs are designed to operate with a high degree of accuracy in dense container yards, utilizing sophisticated control systems to optimize safety and operational flow. This technical upgrade not only boosts productivity but also aligns with the industry-wide move toward more sustainable, electrically powered terminal equipment, reducing the environmental impact of inland logistics.
