Kalmar Launches Fully Electric Terminal Tractor

Share:

Kalmar has announced the launch of the Kalmar TT7 EV, a fully electric version of its TT7 terminal tractor developed for the European market. Designed for port terminal, yard, and logistics operations, the new battery-electric vehicle provides a zero-emission alternative to the standard TT7 platform.

The new terminal tractor features a completely re-engineered chassis constructed with a heavy-duty galvanized steel frame and reinforced axles to handle demanding European shunting tasks. Engineered based on customer feedback for enhanced durability and low maintenance, the electric vehicle features a sectioned front bumper alongside a simplified drivetrain with fewer mechanical components. Additional design upgrades include updated cabin suspension, climate control, and wide windscreens paired with convex side mirrors to optimize safety and operator visibility.

Operational connectivity is fully integrated via MyKalmar INSIGHT hardware and software, enabling users to track battery health and real-time performance metrics. According to Thor Brenden, President of Terminal Tractors at Kalmar, the TT7 EV combines a sustainable drivetrain with the essential power and practical robustness requested by European customers aiming to reduce their operational carbon footprint.
