ITOCHU Invests in Ammonia Terminal at Port Pipavav

Share:

ITOCHU Corporation has acquired a portion of the equity securities of Aegis Terminal (Pipavav) Ltd. from Aegis Vopak Terminals Ltd., participating in India’s first independent ammonia storage terminal business at Port Pipavav in Gujarat. Completed and operationally ready on August 10, 2026, the facility strengthens ammonia logistics infrastructure to meet growing global and regional demand.

The project features a newly constructed ammonia storage tank with a capacity of approximately 36,000 mt (52,000 m3) alongside integrated logistics infrastructure such as cargo handling facilities, pipelines, and truck loading and unloading units. The investment aligns with expanding applications for ammonia in clean energy, including as a fuel and hydrogen carrier, supporting medium to long term market growth in India.

ITOCHU will advance the business through a joint model combining its global ammonia trading network with the terminal operating capabilities of the Aegis and Vopak Groups. This initiative builds on existing storage terminal collaborations in the LPG sector.
