INFORM and PSA Antwerp have announced the successful live deployment of the Integrated Terminal Scheduler (ITS) at Europa Terminal, completed in March 2026. The software solution supports the facility’s complex modernization initiatives by dynamically managing and coordinating horizontal transport workflows across Automated Stacking Cranes, Straddle Carriers, and Quay Cranes. This implementation ensures full operational capacity and maintains established service levels during ongoing terminal transformations.
The deployment operates within the Europa Terminal modernization initiative under Project Emerald by PSA Antwerp and the Port of Antwerp-Bruges. The terminal faces specific hybrid operational demands as various sections are periodically taken offline for reconfiguration. To address these complexities, the system provides real-time optimization of yard movements and equipment scheduling, minimizing unproductive assets, reducing idle times, and integrating Automated Stacking Cranes, which were first introduced to the terminal in summer 2024.
The phased rollout began with Straddle Carrier and Automated Stacking Crane optimization, utilizing a control room interface that provides operational transparency and management by exception. The next stage of development includes the integration of Dual Hoist Quay Cranes following their full commissioning later in 2026.
