Federal Permit Granted for Louisiana International Terminal

Share:

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has issued a federal permit authorizing the construction of the Louisiana International Terminal (LIT), the only new greenfield container port currently under development in the US.

Located on the Lower Mississippi River, this terminal is designed to accommodate modern container vessels exceeding 16,000 containers, which are currently restricted by existing bridge clearances. The project is backed by a public-private partnership between Port NOLA, Terminal Investment Limited (TiL), and Ports America.

At full buildout, the project is hoped to generate billions of dollars in new tax revenue and thousands of additional jobs nationwide, complementing Port NOLA’s existing contribution of $101bn in economic value and 342,000 jobs.
