Cavotec has introduced PowerAccESS, a modular and mobile battery Energy Storage System (ESS) developed to support the electrification of port crane operations. Designed for demanding and evolving port environments, the system provides zero-emission power for RTG cranes during block changes as a one-to-one replacement for diesel generators. It can also be integrated into existing crane systems as a hybrid power solution, enabling more efficient and sustainable operations.
The PowerAccESS system utilizes LiFePO4 batteries to ensure enhanced safety and a long service life, featuring a scalable battery capacity ranging from 62 to 494 kWh. Built with a rugged design for harsh marine environments, the unit delivers zero local emissions and low-noise operation while supporting RTG block change, hybrid, or full battery operations. Crane manufacturers and terminal operators are given a flexible solution that reduces emissions while maintaining performance in demanding operating conditions.
