ABB has entered into an agreement to acquire Norway-based Høglund AS, a specialist in marine automation, to strengthen its portfolio and support growth across diverse vessel segments. The transaction, expected to close in the third quarter of 2026 pending regulatory approval, will integrate Høglund’s global operations, including its workforce of over 80 employees in Norway, Poland, Romania, and China, into ABB’s Marine & Ports division.
Høglund provides an Integrated Automation System (IAS) designed for modern vessels, which currently operates on more than 600 ships. By utilizing ABB’s control system hardware, the modular and scalable solution manages onboard automation, monitoring, and control tasks to enhance safety, energy efficiency, and operational performance. In 2025, Høglund reported revenues of approximately 30m euros.
