Associated British Ports (ABP) has invested £150,000 in two new vacuum lifting attachments at the Port of King’s Lynn to enhance safety and efficiency in cargo handling operations. The new equipment, supplied by B&B Attachments, is designed to reduce manual handling risks and improve load stability during lifting operations. This investment reinforces the port’s capabilities in handling critical cargo and supporting national infrastructure and regional supply chains.
The specialized attachments use advanced suction technology to securely grip pipe surfaces, giving operators greater control and reducing the need for personnel to work close to suspended loads. The equipment has already been deployed, completing its first operation on June 13, 2026, with the import of water pipes intended for UK infrastructure upgrades. Beyond safety improvements, the technology increases operational precision and allows for faster loading and unloading, reducing vessel turnaround times at the East Coast port.
