Kempower and APM Terminals have signed a three-year global framework agreement for the supply of direct current (DC) fast-charging infrastructure for port terminals. The partnership supports APM Terminals’ roadmap to decarbonize its operations through the use of battery-electric container handling equipment and renewable energy.
Under the agreement, Kempower’s high-power charging systems will be installed at various terminals throughout APM Terminals’ global network over the next three years. The collaboration has already commenced with three pilot projects at APM Terminals Yucatán in Mexico, TM2 in Morocco, and Callao in Peru to accommodate the introduction of the first electric vehicles. The infrastructure is designed to provide a consistent, scalable, and reliable charging solution to optimize port operations and keep the electric fleets moving.
The signed three-year framework agreement does not include binding order volumes. Instead, APM Terminals will place individual orders with Kempower in accordance with its specific investment plans and terminal requirements.
