Port of Coos Bay Secures $11m Grant for Rail Infrastructure

Share:

The Oregon International Port of Coos Bay has been awarded an $11.25m grant from the U.S. Maritime Administration’s Port Infrastructure Development Program. This funding supports the Pacific Coast Intermodal Port (PCIP) project, a strategic initiative to build a ship-to-rail container terminal on the North Spit. The project aims to enhance national supply chain resilience and provide a new gateway for U.S. exports to global markets.

The grant will specifically fund rail infrastructure improvements, including the construction of a rail lead and a siding to serve the future terminal area. These enhancements are designed to facilitate the movement of containers onto the Coos Bay Rail Line, connecting the port to the national rail network. This federal investment complements $100m in state funding and focuses on establishing efficient pathways for agricultural and manufacturing producers to access empty containers.
