The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) hosted over 70 institutional and business representatives from 19 European countries on April 28–29 to advance the eFTI4LIVE project. Coordinated by Spain’s Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility with support from the Valenciaport Foundation, this initiative aims to implement a digital freight transport information model across the European Union. The gathering focused on coordinating technological and regulatory developments necessary to transition from paper-based documentation to a fully digitalized logistics chain.
The project involves 55 entities working to comply with Regulation (EU) 2020/1056 (eFTI), which seeks to enhance efficiency, transparency, and sustainability in freight transport. During the sessions, partners focused on developing “eFTI Gates” and digital platforms to ensure seamless data exchange between different countries and transport modes. Spain’s leadership in this digital transformation was highlighted, specifically through the integration of the national SIMPLE platform and the adaptation of the ValenciaportPCS system to meet new European electronic standards.
The initiative aligns with the Valenciaport Strategic Plan 2035. The meeting concluded with a technical visit to the Port of Valencia’s facilities, reaffirming the commitment of the 41 beneficiaries and 14 associated partners to modernizing the European transport sector.
